Edvard Munch's house, Hvitsten, Vestby
Munch's house in Nedre Ramme in Hvitsten, Norway
Complete restoration
In collaboration with architect and conservator Geir Helland, I worked on the total renovation and partial reconstruction of Edvard Munch’s historic home at Nedre Ramme, commissioned by Petter Olsen.
The project included extensive research to determine the building’s appearance during Munch’s time (1910–1944), and involved restoring original elements such as the balcony and glass veranda, replacing windows with historically accurate detailing, identifying original colours and fixtures, and restoring the annex building on the property.
Today, the house is open to visitors and available for short-term stays, offering a unique connection to the coastal landscape that inspired Munch’s vitalist works.
